This is a second book in the series. And as the first book it isn't your typical zombie-story. There is even less zombie-action compared to "Feed". The main character is Shaun, but it isn't the Shaun we all knew and loved from ""Fedd". He is broken and crazy as a fox. First half of the book was a bit slow paced. But second half made it up to me - tension was mounting in unbelievable rate. My advise - if you hasn't read deadline yet - wait till the 3d book will come out. Because this one ends with huge cliffhanger.
